I have found, while living in times of limbo, it's helpful for me to focus on what I can control. Usually that looks like embracing routine, taking things a day at a time (like you said), but also preparing myself to be open to what ever may be ahead. Not trying to manipulate the future or even necessarily plan for it, just coaching myself to be open to it. Thanks for your thoughts!

Vicky--we sound like twins! And our husband's sound like they share the same frustrations with our overly-ambitious view of time (and what we can get done in it). One of the main reasons I study and write so much about productivity is because I need the reminders and advice on a daily basis myself!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Thanks for a great article Stephanie- I can so relate as I, too, have illusions of grandeur and am chronically over-ambitious. Got a 2-hour flight? Great!-I just KNOW that between waiting in the airport and the flight, I'll knit a blanket, write 4 articles, map out 6 months' worth of business strategy, take a snooze and read a book! Then I feel terrible when I bring all my projects back home, having dragged them with me on my trip.
It's the same in the office. I'll have an hour to work and the work of 20 on my list. Your list of 4Consequences of Illusions of Grandeur are so right on.
My husband nags me all the time about being more realistic of my time expectations. He's been suggesting some of the same tips you've written. . . it's easier to hear it from you! :-)
   Thanks again!

It does help to have a few set boundaries (like a bed time--which I also try to stick to). As for working at home with your spouse, I agree that it is a challenge. Getting out of work mode is hard enough, and doubles with two. Sometimes for us we have to physically leave the house and go the park or for a drive to disconnect.

Good to hear from you, Cyndi! Thanks for your thoughts--

This is something that has always been a problem for me - I take 1/2 of Sunday and all of Monday off - Monday is enforced by having my granddaughter with me on those days.

Lately I am trying to make sure I put away the computer and pick up my knitting needles no later than 9 and get to bed no later than 11.

I love the idea of a staycation - the problem is my husband also works from home and getting us both out of work mode and into life is sometimes very difficult.
